- parking is not an issue for dinner - closed Mondays - local taste traditional chinese cuisine for at least 3 decades - waiting time can be long so be patient or dine in only when your not in a hurry since only 1 chef with 1 waiter - a long dance studio like room separated by dividers (still able to hear people talking), Air-conditioned - food is nostalgic taste esp for an AlorSetarian - order the famous "dry chicken" RECOMMENDED! - other dishes are awesome as well

Located in old town of Alor Setar, Pekan Cina. (nearby Caffe Diem) First try here, not sure what to order and the staff said will prepare signature dishes for us. Simple food but taste good with reasonable price. Waited around 30min for the food, but they will serve at one go. Hidden gem in Alor Setar. Home cooked that's hard to find nowadays.

Food is nice, maintained the taste from childhood time. However, this place is abit unusual now (at least to me). I haven't been here for so many years but we wanted to try it as we r back in Alor Setar. We went to check it out but both days the door was closed with a tiny gap left. It was the same the third day so we went in to enquire. They were open but mostly taukeh only do bookings but they were ok to seat us that day. Hence, pls book before u go. We had to walk to the back kitchen and place our order there, which was again unusual. Overall, slightly surprising experience (made us think we were not welcomed at first) but the food is still delicious.

A very special restaurant. 1 chef 1 staff operating business. The room can tell how many decades it has been served. The food are awesome! The 3 taste pomfret so crispy till can eat up the bone. The sweet+sourness sauce is so appetite. Signature chicken Dishes here would bring back childhood days....

This is arguably one of the best "home cook" restaurant in pekan cina Alor Setar. We had a lunch catch up with my relatives there for the very first time a few days ago. It's operated in a pre WWII colonial style building, overall quite dated but its cleanliness is well kept. All their foods are above average, and I especially would like to commend the so called "black chicken", it's essentially a pan fried chicken with thick soy sauce perfected by the deep fried garlic slices, the addition of the garlic just upgrade the taste to the next level. I highly recommend this restaurant to those who crave home cooked style foods, this restaurant will prove to you that tasty food does not need to be fancy and pricey.

Grateful to be accepted even though I didn't make a booking. Do book in advance if you want to enjoy the dishes. The signature chicken fully deserves my 5 stars.
